Aaron Rodgers will be playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers this upcoming season. After weeks of uncertainty, the four-time NFL MVP decided to take up the team's offer and joined them on a one-year deal worth $13.65 million. Rodgers joins a quarterback room that includes Skylar Thompson and Mason Rudolph alongside 2025 draft pick Will Howard.
Before Rodgers' arrival, the Steelers hired his former teammate, Tom Arth, in February 2024. He was Rodgers' teammate during his stint with the Green Bay Packers in 2006.
On Wednesday, Steelers Live shared a clip of Aaron Arth getting ready to coach Aaron Rodgers in Steel City. He expressed his excitement to work side by side with his former teammate in a different role.

"I certainly think it's helpful for me, for sure, just having a past and history with Aaron," Arth said. "Knowing who the person is – that's the biggest thing – and knowing, like, okay, this is a guy that we got along very well during the time we spent together. I was very excited to see him...

"...He's here in Pittsburgh and I have a chance to work with him on a daily basis- it's really a special opportunity for me, for a lot of different reasons: personal, and just the growth it will provide me as a coach. Being able to coach a player of his experience, number one, and certainly the success he's had..... Being able to learn from him is going to be very valuable for my development," he added.
Arth was signed by the Packers in 2006, but they decided to release him before training camp. He ended up transitioning to the Canadian Football League and signed with the Toronto Argonauts in 2007.
Ex-NFL GM predicts Aaron Rodgers' downfall during his debut with the Steelers
With Aaron Rodgers on the team, head coach Mike Tomlin is hoping to bring an end to their playoff losses and compete for the Super Bowl. However, ex-Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum does not have faith in the veteran quarterback's ability to provide value to the team.
On Tuesday's episode of ESPN's "Get Up", Tannenbaum expressed his doubts about Aaron Rodgers' game and his stint with the Steelers:
"I think Aaron Rodgers is gonna be irrelevant by Thanksgiving. A non-playoff team, a 42-year-old quarterback who's a legend that's going off into the sunset. They're the third-best team in the division. They're gonna have to find out about Will Howard, who they drafted from Ohio State, who I think is very intriguing."
Tannenbaum believes the Steelers will not emerge as the division champions. He predicts a massive change in the organization after an underwhelming 2025 campaign with the Super Bowl XLV champ as their starting quarterback.
