Russian tennis player Liudmila Samsonova has represented Italy from 2014 to 2018 and specializes in the singles and doubles category. She finished runner-up at the 2025 Internationaux de Strasbourg, where she lost to Elena Rybakina. Samsonova and Nicole Melichar-Martinez lost to the team of Zhang Shuai and Ekaterina Alexandrova in the semifinals of the 2025 Stuttgart Open. She reached the quarterfinals of the 2025 Indian Wells Masters, where she lost to Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets. Samsonova lifted her fifth WTA singles title at the 2024 Rosmalen Open, registering a win against Bianca Andreescu in the final. She finished semifinalist in the 2024 Abu Dhabi Open, where she lost to Elena Rybakina.

Samsonova started playing tennis at the Piatti Tennis Centre at the age of six, after receiving financial support from the tennis association. She has won eight singles and three ITF titles on the double circuit. Samsonova reached her career-high ITF ranking of #65 in July 2016.
