Russian tennis player Liudmila Samsonova has represented Italy from 2014 to 2018 and specializes in the singles and doubles category. Samsonova started playing tennis at the Piatti Tennis Centre at the age of six, after receiving financial support from the tennis association. She has won eight singles and three ITF titles on the double circuit. Samsonova reached her career-high ITF ranking of #65 in July 2016. She won her first ITF title at a $10,000 event, after registering a win against three seeded players. She started her professional tennis journey in 2013 by making her debut at the Australian Open. Samsonova won her maiden WTA title at the German Open, upsetting Belinda Bencic in the final despite losing the first set.
