Born in San Diego California, DiJonai Carrington is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA and for the Mist Basketball Club in the Unrivaled 3x3 league. She also comes from a family with a rich sports background as her father, Darren Carrington played in the NFL as a defensive back for eight seasons and her mother, Vickie Carrington ran track at Northern Arizona while her other two siblings also played college sports.

Carrington played college basketball for Stanford and Baylor University. She transferred to Baylor in her senior year and had her best season while playing from the bench. Carrington averaged 14.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.1 steals per game from the bench in her redshirt senior year. She was named the Big 12 Sixth Player of the Year and went on to have a great NCAA tournament as well and she was named in the NCAA Tournament All-Region team. The performances in her final season pushed her draft stock but she was still drafted in the second round as the 20th overall pick by the Connecticut Sun in the 2021 season. However, Carrington went on to become one of the best defenders in the league and was a steal by the Sun. In 2024, Carrington made it to the All-Defense first team of the WNBA.
